Margarita Island is one of the most interesting destinations in the Caribbean.  
It has its’  own special beauty, charm and attractions.

The Island itself is an example of contrasts with its modern buildings and
sophisticated boutiques offering the very best the world has to offer in
clothing or that special gift to take home,. There are,”Bodegones”,
(delicatessens) full of fine wines and exquisite food imported from all over
the world…., The Free Market offers handcraft stores, as well as, Picturesque
kiosks which offer fried fish, Empanadas, (A kind of deep fried fritter, filled
with various meats, cheeses, etc,),  cachapas, (kind of a corn pancake),
cocadas, ( a refreshing creamy coconut drink), etc.. There are restaurants
offering French, Italian, Japanese and other national dishes as well as local
cuisine…., There are villages with ever present shaded plazas, beautiful old
churches and cool breezes telling tales of the past. There are even remains
of Colonial Architecture from another time.  The  natives, with their very own
way of talking, sound as if they are always joking….And of course there are
the wonderful and many beaches with facilities to satisfy even the most
discerning.  

We are going to concentrate on 6 specific areas of the island, which we find
would be the best for people to visit as tourists, stay for a while or come here
to live.

PORLAMAR, the largest city, coupled with PAMPATAR form a metropolitan
area. Here you can find  modern comforts and all that a city has to offer with
spectacular ocean views combined with the diversity of the local fishing
villages and remaining colonial town.

PLAYA EL AGUA: is the most popular beach on the island, with its boulevard
full of restaurants, cafés,  hotels and apartments. A great place to stay and
enjoy the beautiful beaches in tropical surroundings.

GUACUCO and GUARAME: are areas between the mountains and the sea, full
of beautiful homes overlooking the ocean.  This is a wonderful place to enjoy
sea breezes and spectacular views. For investors a little expensive, but well
worth the cost.

PLAYA EL YAQUE: is a paradise for those who practice Wind surfing or Kite
surfing  with its ever present wind. Professionals and aficionados alike find
this place especially exciting. Each can sharpen their skills in either pursuit.

JUAN GRIEGO and surroundings make up the northwest part of the island.
Juan Griego is a city with a middle eastern  influence and has great shopping
and dining. It is one of the best places on the island to watch spectacular
sunsets from the remains of and old Spanish fort.

ISLAND INTERIOR: is where you find the State capital, LA ASUNCION with its
modern government buildings and remaining old colonial structures. The rest
of the interior consists of many small towns, each offering its own flavor.

MARGARITA ISLAND combines the traditional ways with contemporary and you
